As President of iTechSQA, Julia Barrera-Thomas leads a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) consultancy whose mission is to enhance and optimize the mission-critical technology components of high-profile public service agencies at the federal, state and local levels. Julia’s vast knowledge and experience in the Defense, Veteran, Transportation and Security realm coupled with over a decade of active duty military service in the United States Navy makes her a formidable thought leader that can partner with our nation’s highest public servants to achieving results for internal and external stakeholders.

For more than 28 years, Julia has had a distinguished career serving large and complex federal clients and has served as a senior advisor / specialist in IT, security, systems integration and risk planning and mitigation.

She is frequently sought out by executive-level government leaders for advisory on technology and engineering trends in government IT, security and the dynamics of the shifts shaping the future of federal and public workplace technology.

Julia is a decorated military veteran having served in both Operation Desert Shield (1990) and Operation Desert Storm (1991). Throughout her illustrious military career, she received numerous medals including the National Defense Service Medal, the Southwest Asia Service Medal (2 Bronze Stars), the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Kuwait the Liberation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal.

Julia earned a BS in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix. She is married to a U.S Navy Retiree and has three children, two of which are active duty U.S. Army.
